Iberia intégra des Caravelles avec la signature d'un contrat pour 4 Caravelle le 21 novembre 1960 pour remplacer ses Convair 440 pour ses routes domestiques et européennes. Ce premier ordre a été augmenté à six exemplaires en décembre 1961 et IBERIA a acquis un total de 20 avions (13 Caravelle 6Rs et 7 10Rs), signant son ordre final avec le fabricant le 4 novembre 1966. Les quatre premièreres Caravelle 6R ont été livrées à IBERIA entre février et avril 1962, immatriculées de EC-ARI à EC-ARL inclus, juste à temps pour la saison d'été. L'introduction des Caravelles à permis à IBERIA de réduire drastiquement les temps de vol sur ses itinéraires domestiques et européen et de concurrencer à armes égales avec les autres transporteurs nationaux. IBERIA a continué d'agrandir sa flotte de Caravelle 6R à partir d'avril 1963, recevant deux avions cette même année, encore deux en 1964, quatre en 1965 et sa dernière 6R en juillet 1967. Entre ces dates elle a également reçu un total de sept Caravelle 10R, les livraisons débutant en avril 1966. Une offre pour acheter la Caravelle 12 fut rejetée par Iberia.

Iberia began its association with the Caravelle on November 21st 1960 when it signed a contract for four aircraft to replace Convair twins used on its domestic and european services. This initial order was later increased to six in December 1961 and Iberia went on to acquire a total of 20 aircrafts (13 Caravelle 6Rs and 7 10Rs), signing its final order with the manufacturer on November 4th 1966. The first four Caravelle 6R were delivered to Iberia between February and April 1962, registerted EC-ARI to EC-ARL inclusive, in time for the busy summer season ahead. The introduction of the Caravelle enabled Iberia to cut journey times dramatically on its domestic and european routes and compete ion equal terms with other national carriers.
Iberia continued to add to its Caravelle 6R fleet from April 1963, receiving two aircrafts  that year, another two in 1964, four in 1965 and its final aircraft in july 1967. Between these dates the airline also received a total of seven Caravelle 10R, theiveries commencing in April 1966. An offer to buy the Caravelle 12 was rejected by Iberia.
